Öresound Arts music network meet in Copenhagen

Learn about the mobility of classical music and art music in the Öresund area. Art Music Denmark and Musikcentrum Syd arranged this B2B network meeting at Musikhuset in Copenhagen and invited professional musicians, ensembles, concert organizers, classical music venues residing in Scania and Denmark..

As inspiration for the meeting, we have invited two of the most exciting and curious venues, Koncertkirken in Copenhagen and Ravinen + The Space Between festival in Båstad and Hjärnarp, to talk about their concert halls and their relationship to the Danish/Swedish musical collaboration.

You also get to know the organizations Art Music Denmark and Musikcentrum Syd better, plus we have invited a large number of relevant actors from musicians to organizations.

Panel talk 20 minutes - Regin Petersen from Arts Music Denmark in a talk with Björn Ross from Konsertkirken in Copenhagen and Stefan Klaverdal from Ravinen in Båstad, Sweden and the festival The In between festival. The discussion highlights the mobility of artists between regions since the bridge opened, emphasizing the need for more collaboration and development. The different funding systems in each country, challenges for travel and performances are addressed, along with the importance of networking for composers and musicians.

8 minutes - Annemari Brogaard Clausen tells a bit about Musikens Hus is a unique venue aimed at enhancing the classical music scene. The establishment of Musikens Hus addresses the shortage of classical music venues, supported by local initiatives. The house is run bu a memberorganisation and also includes residency programs for smaller ensembles and composers. The venue prioritizes audience engagement, a festival for up and coming arts music ensembles and artists, especially with children and youth, focusing solely on music-related events.

Stefan Klaverdals´ diverse background in music lead to the creation of a festival that showcases cross-genre performances. In Between festival. Born from a need for suitable venues, the festival has thrived over five years, featuring sold-out events and unexpected funding. It highlights the beauty of rural settings and includes a mix of classical and jazz concerts, workshops, and exhibitions. His work with the festival gave him the position as a producer at the privately funded Music/culture venue Ravinen in Båstad. An economic model that is quite unusual in Scania but normal i Denmark.

15 minute talk by Björn Ross from Konsertkirken in Copenhagen

Artist, producer, curator and organiser, born 1957 in Stockholm, living and working in Copenhagen since 1982. Talks about the concert venue Konsertkirken and how it has developed over the years.

15 minute talk by Regin Petersen about the Copenhagen arts music landscape. The Copenhagen music landscape features a blend of classical and contemporary genres. Musicians receive support through counseling services and funding from the Danish Arts Council. Residencies and international exchanges play a crucial role for artists. The presentation highlights successful organizations, key festivals in Copenhagen, and the importance of community-driven initiatives for greater collaboration among musicians. Petersen is a trained composer from the Royal Danish Academy of Music and has previously been director of KLANG festival and has a background as an entrepreneur, producer and much more. He is responsible for contemporary music at Arts music Denmark.

A 15 min talk by Astrid Selling about the Swedish NGO Musikcentrum Syd and the the development programme Baltic artists in development. The organization’s funding and support for musicians are discussed, including coaching and workshops. The Baltic Artists in Development project promotes self-management and international collaboration. Crisis management in culture and the importance of networking through informal connections are also emphasized.
