NETWORK MEET IN KRAKOW 2024!

The days passed quickly in a springy Krakow, via exciting conversations and workshops about the everyday life of Ukrainian musicians, inclusion and equality in the music industry, agile working methods for musicians and a couple of successful experiments with a focus on networking.

Particular attention was paid to updates on the Ukrainian music industry after the invasion and security issues in case of a possible trip there, with stories of how musicians cope in a war-torn everyday life. That Ukrainians have acquired mental resilience in difficult times and that they adapt quickly to prevailing circumstances is clear. Everyday stories, such as the one about how after an airplane alert, it usually takes 30 minutes for a possible rocket strike, and then there is time to eat your meal, wash the dishes or take a slow walk to the nearest shelter. The participants in the BAID project also showed an optimism and a "now it's time to live life to the fullest" attitude that rubbed off on the entire project. And it will be extremely interesting to follow these optimistic newbies on their way through the independent music industry. We are sure that they both give and take from the knowledge and experience found in the network. We will certainly take their ingenuity and optimism with us!

Otherwise, it has arisen, not by itself but from true grit and persistant work, a desire to experiment and a willingness to venture out on uncertain ground. Just that attitude is usually necessary for new ideas to arise. You have to dare to fail in order to succeed!

The idea is that these new ideas and prototypes will be presented at Tallinn Music week 2025 and that some of the ideas will be so sustainable that they will develop into their own projects that can create change in the way of working for independent entrepreneurs in the music industry. Ideally, they should turn the music industry upside down!

The project is run with support from the Swedish Institute and is a joint project between organizations in Estonia, Poland, Ukraine and Sweden.
